Nominations
-
Russ presented the slate of board nominations for 2020:
-
President: Tim Gallagher
-
1st Vice President: Art Schick
-
2nd Vice President: Peter Howard
-
Treasurer: Marianne Beardsley
-
Secretary: Ellen Clark
-
New Directors: Warren Fish, Brian Murphy
-
-
There was a lot of interest this year from several people who want to participate on the board.
-
The president’s position is more difficult to fill.
-
Art agreed to do the 1st VP position with Tim mentoring him.
-
John Mannix is stepping down as treasurer since 2002.
-
Tim and the board expressed sincere appreciation for John’s many years of good work as the treasurer.
-
Introductions were made by Art, Marianne, Brian and Warren.
-
All were welcomed and thanked for their interest to serve on the board.
-
A motion to approve the board nominations was unanimously accepted.
Annual June Meeting
-
In consideration of the pandemic, the board discussed the pros and cons of various ways to hold the annual meeting in June under the guidelines of social distancing.
-
Some of the suggestions considered were a zoom meeting, a combination zoom meeting and an outside physical meeting, postponement of the meeting, and no meeting altogether.
-
The board decided to NOT have a physical and/or virtual meeting this year.
-
In order to take care of business, the board decided to send out the President’s letter by email with a ballot to vote on the current business.
-
The residents who do not use email will receive their letter and ballot by US Postal mail.
-
The ballot will include the following:
-
Nominations
-
Budget
-
Increase the 2021 dues to $400
-
-
Members will return their votes to the board.
Dues Collection
-
For the 2020 dues collection, the board will send the invoices to the membership by US postal mail because we get a much better response than by email.
Budget
-
John Mannix reviewed the budget. As usual the areas where the most money is spent are the roads and the beaches.
-
This year the beach expenses were higher than expected due to the sand on B beach and the permitting process.
-
The roads were less than expected because the drain expense was not recorded on the balance sheet until 2020 and the paving has not happened yet.
-
A motion to approve the budget was accepted. The board will recommend the budget to the membership.
Beaches
-
Greg reviewed the plan to continue with the monitoring.
-
We will have one four-hour shift from 11:00am -3:00pm.
-
The monitor will walk the beach at 11:00 to make sure everyone is a resident. The monitors will call Tim or Greg if there are any issues.
-
Beach goers are expected to social distance, gather in groups of no more than 10 people, and stay six feet apart.
Tennis
-
After some discussion regarding social distancing, the board voted, 8 yes, 2 no, and 1 abstention to put up the nets and the sign-up sheet to open the courts for Memorial Day.
Roads
-
Mike Shea is taking over for Jack Royle on the road committee.
-
The speed bumps have been painted by Art, Hal and Tim.
-
The roadwork plan has been to pave the road from the new drain up to Russ’ house.
-
Russ suggested that the road committee consider paving the road from Tim’s house to A beach because it is in poor shape before we do the section from the drain to Russ’ house.
-
Also, we should revisit the paving plan with Lawrence Lynch and get a revised estimate.
Security
-
Tom Griffin has been contacted to provide the night security again this summer.
Summer Social
-
In August we hope to schedule and organize a “neighborhood crawl” cocktail party with social distancing. Date and details to follow.
New Business
-
Tim made a suggestion to consider changing the officers’ terms in the bylaws to two years because it takes time to learn the job.
Motion to adjourn at 8:15 pm.
