Cart Rules
Approved 8/4/2007
The roads in Seascape are private and are regulated by the Association. The Association wants these roads to be safe for everyone.
With the increased use of golf carts on the roads, it is important to be aware that your home owner’s and/or auto insurance may not cover the carts on the Association's roads. Please review your policies with your broker to determine if your cart is covered. If not, you should obtain a rider which will cover your cart and its occupants. Otherwise, you could be faced with unexpected personal liability in the event of an accident.
The Association has special rules for golf carts on its roads, which are:
-
If the cart does not have forward and rear lights, it can be operated only during daylight hours. If it has such lights, they must be on when operating the cart at any time from dusk to dawn.
-
At all times, the cart must adhere to the rules of the road, which includes driving only on in the right hand side, giving hand signals for turns, and the like.
-
The cart must adhere to the speed limits and the posted stop signs.
-
The cart should be operated by a licensed driver.
-
If you are satisfied that an unlicensed driver is competent and responsible, it is your decision whether that person can operate the cart, but, in any event, there must always be a licensed driver immediately beside the unlicensed operator.
-
The passenger capacity of the cart should not be exceeded. Generally, this means a limit of six occupants.
-
When in doubt, rely on your common sense for the safety of all concerned.
If at any time you have a question or concern about carts on the Association’s roads, please share them with a member of the Board.
