Fall Communications

We hope that you were able to enjoy the great summer at Seascape and that this letter finds you happy and healthy. This note is an effort to communicate to the members about this year’s activity at Seascape.
We want to thank everyone for achieving another participation milestone this year. The count of Association members paying their dues is 114. That is against a workable population of 116. Dues revenue was $39,700 against a budget of $35,000. The tennis payments are $1,700.
In August, we asked the members for authorization to spend $50,000 this year on road repairs. We sent out 112 emails and got 80 responses, 71%. 75 responded YES, 94%, 2 responded NO, 2 responded conditional YES, and 1 responded undecided. The motion passed. The Board met to decide on which part of the roads to work on. We voted 10 for and 1 abstention, to work on Waterside Drive from about 100 to the B beach parking lot and up to the speed bump past the intersection. We also approved a new drain at 104 Waterside. This work is due to start this month.
We had a very nice summer at our beaches this year thanks in part to the beach monitoring effort and the continuing of the night security. We had no issues reported. The beach monitoring was conducted by neighborhood teenagers during the weekends who reported people turning away when they saw the monitors. We plan on recommending that we do beach monitoring next year.
The annual cocktail party was held on “B” beach again this summer. There was a large group of members who attended and it was a great time to meet old friends and new neighbors. Thanks to everyone who made this happen.
We are having both beaches pruned over the winter. “A” beach will be pruned to 4 feet to maintain the vista and prevent invasive overgrowth. “B” beach will have the growth pruned in the lot on the left of the parking lot to protect the trees. We are putting up the snow fences on “B” beach over the winter. We are thinking of adding 30 cubic yards of sand to “B” beach in the spring. We will start the process of extending the Conservation Commission permit for “A” beach in the spring.
The Association WEB site has been rebuilt and updated with a lot of current and past information. We enlisted the help of a member’s grandson to be the webmaster and he has done a great job. The site has a lot of information loaded up including the by-laws, job descriptions, committee responsibilities, last year’s Association meeting minutes and the board minutes. It also includes the list of officers, board members and committee members. Please look at the site and let us know your reaction. www.seascapeassociation.org.
Finally, we encourage you to join the Board or participate in one of the Committees to help keep Seascape the wonderful place it is. Contact Russ of the Nomination Committee. Find him on our WEB.
Sincerely,
Tim Gallagher,
President, Seascape Association, Inc.
